Streets and Right-of-Way

Right-of-Way Inspections

The Engineering Department permits, oversees, and inspects all work within the City's right-of-way. It's important to contact the Engineering Department before initiating work within the right-of-way, placing equipment on a city sidewalk, or blocking a sidewalk, street, or alley. This ensures that your work complies with the City's regulations and standards.

Stormwater

Comprehensive Stormwater Master Plan

The City of Paducah has developed a Comprehensive Stormwater Master Plan. This document provides a clear and concise explanation of the City’s existing stormwater management program, presents a detailed investigation into key components of stormwater as it is related to the City, establishes stormwater management goals for the future, presents tools to meet or exceed established goals, and provides a foundation for future policy decisions.

BUILD Grant

Build Grant ImageBUILD Grant - $10.4 Million in Federal Funding

The City of Paducah is receiving significant funding through the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant program. In July 2019, the City submitted a grant application to the U.S. Department of Transportation requesting funding to improve various transportation elements along the downtown riverfront.

Floodwall

Flood Control System

The City of Paducah operates and maintains the concrete and earthen levee system that extends 12.25 miles (9.25 miles of earthen levee and 3.0 miles of concrete). The concrete wall in downtown Paducah is 14 feet in height. The system includes 12 pump stations and several pipe gates, pipes, and 47 vehicular openings.  The floodwall was constructed between August 1939 and July 1949. The City took over operation and maintenance of the floodwall from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in 1949.

Riverfront Redevelopment

Our Common Neighborhood - The Riverfront

The next generation is really why we're here today... The riverfront is the one common neighborhood for everyone in this area.  The one neighborhood that everyone shares is the river, because afterall, that is how Paducah got here. The great old river is replete with history of the United States of America.  I want to help the community enhance the river experience so that this common neighborhood that everyone has will be a place to go and enjoy yourself for years and years to come.
