The 22nd annual Purchase Area Health Expo, hosted by Purchase Area Diabetes Connection, will take place on Saturday, October 28th from 9am-Noon at the McCracken County Cooperative Extension Office (2025 New Holt Rd., Paducah). New this year, the Paducah Police Department will also host DEA Drug Take Back Day in the parking lot during the event.
The health fair will include free health screenings, healthy recipes, and educational information from community partners. Free flu shots will be provided by Mercy Health. Free health screenings include A1C readings, fall risk assessment, eye screening, HIV and Hep C screening (antibody testing), blood glucose, and blood pressure. There will be free recipe samplings. Attendees can come-and-go between the times of 9am and noon.
Attendees are also encouraged to bring unneeded or expired prescription medications to the event for proper disposal on DEA Drug Take Back Day, hosted by the Paducah Police Department. This gives the public the opportunity to prevent pill misuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Liquids, needles and sharps will not be accepted; only pills and patches. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
