Work begins this week to enhance the walking path located at Albert Jones Park, a neighborhood park at 855 Joe Bryan Drive northeast of Brooks Stadium.
Contractors working for the City of Paducah will remove the existing asphalt path and replace it with a new asphalt path that is three feet wider, increasing its width to six feet. Plus, crews will add approximately 200 feet to the path, extending it to nearly one-quarter mile in length.
This project is expected to take two weeks, weather-permitting. The park will remain open during construction; however, visitors should avoid areas where crews are working.
This summer, a picnic shelter will be added to Albert Jones Park, providing a shaded gathering space for park visitors.
Albert Jones Park is located at the former Henry Clay Elementary School site. In 2012, the Paducah Board of Commissioners approved renaming the park from Henry Clay Park to Albert Jones Park in honor of Jones who served as Paducah’s mayor from 1996 to 2000.
