About the Gardens and its Partners

On April 26, 2025, the community held a ribbon cutting celebration for the Southside Community Gardens. The gardens are located at 1227 Tennessee Street near the intersection of South 13th and Tennessee Street. For more information about the Southside Community Gardens, contact the Paducah Parks and Recreation Department at 270-444-8508.

The Southside Community Gardens include ten raised garden beds that are located on city-owned vacant lots in the Walter Jetton Neighborhood. Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital provided generous $2500 sponsorship toward the construction of the gardens. Paducah’s Parks & Recreation Department is providing fencing, water, and general maintenance for the gardens while a large group of volunteers, many from various Southside faith-based organizations, are organizing the volunteer team who will maintain the garden beds and develop the process of distributing the food to residents.

Vision from the Paducah Board of Commissioners

At the 2024 Strategic Planning session for the Paducah Board of Commissioners, City Commissioner Raynarldo Henderson initiated a conversation about adding community gardens to Paducah’s Southside. The goal of the Southside Community Gardens Project is to help alleviate food insecurities by providing fresh produce to residents.
